Save and Slurge Mondays! - The look for less!

Be a SAVY SHOPPER and still get the look you want!

I know what it's like to look in the design magazines and play "Wish it"...you know that game..."OH I wish it was mine!"...yeah that one.  As a designer I understand why some things are priced the way they are, but to the average consumer, some of these prices are hard to swallow. So I decided to do this post to show you, that you don't have to sacrifice style to fit your budget and have a fabulously styled home.  Check back in for the next Save and Splurge next Monday. Enjoy and happy shopping!

This BEAUTIFUL Danieli chandelier from Niermann Weeks is absolutely the cream of the crop at a $7350.00 price tag.  I love the beaded arms and the drop crystal in the center.  The curved shape at the top adds a little visual texture and draws your eye up and down the fixture to admire it's glam!

but I found a similar chandelier by Candice Olson called "Camerson" from AF lighting at $318.00 bucks.  Of course they are not completely the same, but the overall look is definitely comparable.  I purchased this little beauty for my master bedroom and I am SOOOOOOO happy I did!  It's gorgeous!  I actually purchased the smaller version (4-lights) and set it on a dimmer.  The why the light reflects in the beads is so memorizing and the 4 lights provide PLENTY of illumination for the space.

For all of you who like funky prints, check out these two rugs.  I love this one from Jonathan Adler called Black Gio Kilim at $695.00 (5 x 8 size).  The black and white print is super trendy and when you pair it with a bright solid colored upholstered piece of furniture it makes such a statement!  A good one...lol, trust me.

But this one is pretty cool too!  It's from Ikea and it's called LAPPLJUNG RUTA, it cost $69.99. (6'7" x 6'7" size).  There is a slight difference in size but the pattern is super cool.  I am actually going to use this rug in a nursery that I am doing!  (stay tuned in for that...probably sometime in July when I finish the nursery)

Ok, even designers get fooled sometimes....lol.  Check out these contemporary barstools, they are almost identical.  The backs of the stool carry a slightly different shape, but GOODNESS they are close.  The first one is from Design Within Reach called LEM Piston Stool,  priced at $865.00.

This one is from Staples....yup you got it, Staples carries fun furniture too.  This one is from Zuo Mondern, which is a GREAT company to find ultra comtemporary furniture at a decent price.  Staples just happens to have it at the lowest price at $179.99.  I can just see this pushed up against a light colored speckled granite with high gloss white cabinetry and stainless steel hardware...yummy.

Ok, one more piece and I will stop for now....I get a kick out of finding deals!  Ok, so this Pintucked Coffee Table ottoman is from Wisteria.com.  It's so pretty and looks great in any design setting, such a fabulous piece...however it has a $899.00 price tag. OUCH!

The Elements Rubbed Ottoman Table from overstock.com is very similar in style.  It's rubbed wood finish is close to the rustic reclaimed wood look of the wisteria piece, and the smoke gray tufted top adds extra layer of visual coziness.  The top is a little heavier then the wisteria piece, but for the price of $287.99, who the HECK CARES...just kidding.  It really is a great deal. LOVE this piece!

So that's it for now.  I will be doing a segment on "Magazine Makeovers", a blog post for viewers to email me a magazine picture of a space they like and I try to recreate the designer look for less.  Feel free to email at thatsyourqdesigns@gmail.com with any request.  Ciao for now!
